Mission

We aim to create a safe space targeted at youth and teenage poets where they can develop their writing and share it with others from across the globe. We believe that writing is freedom and want to help others discover poetry as the ability to share their voices and stories through readings and workshops. Our goal is to help young writers gain confidence in their skills, connect with like-minded individuals, and create poetry that has an impact.
Confidence. Connection. Creation.

Key Initiatives Led By Sara

Sara Garg was awarded the Girl Scouts Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta for her work with Sync Poetry in Children's Hospital Outreach, Fulton County Public Library partnership, and the Week of Expression. Her work with Sync Poetry also led to her being selected a Greater Atlanta Young Woman of Distinction in 2023 and a Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Scholarship Recipient. She worked over 150 hours on Sync Poetry for her Gold Award.

Children's Hospital Outreach

Over the course of 2022, Sara Garg (co-lead of Sync Poetry) partnered with Children's Hospitals to provide 4 free poetry workshops to all patients. This signature workshop series created by Sara includes a workshop on Speed Poetry, Repetitive Styles, Style Mirroring, and Narrative Poetry. These four hospital workshops were delivered asynchronously to the hospitals.

These workshops are available for free for any interested party or organization. If you are interested, please email Sync Poetry.

Prior Partners:
  • Children's Healthcare of Atlanta aired a series of 4 workshops every Friday in the month of August in 2022.
  • Johns Hopkins' Children's Center aired a series of 4 workshops once a month for four months at the end of 2022.

Public Library Partnership

Sara Garg (co-lead of Sync Poetry) partnered with the Fulton County Public Library System in the Fall of 2022 to lead a community-centered poetry workshop. This was Sync's first workshop open to both youth and adults and we are proud to say that we had an attendance across many ages and collected over 30 poems! Many of these poems are featured in the gallery.

Sara plans to lead another public library workshop in the coming year.

Week of Expression

One of Sync Poetry's annual events is a 100% virtual and synchronous Week of Expression. For each weekday, Sara Garg (co-lead of Sync Poetry) will offer a new poetry workshop and chance to share your poetry with peers around the country and the world!

Currently, the dates have not been set but it will be a summer event.

Poetry Submissions

We have our submissions open year round! We do not officially publish in any print form but would be happy to feature poems for any youth poet who would like to share them. We prioritize poems written during Sync Workshops. All poems will be compiled each December by Sara Garg (co-lead of Sync Poetry) and shared on the Sync Homepage as a PDF.

Sync Poetry defines youth as any person below the age of 21 or enrolled student at a level below Graduate education. This includes students pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree.
