MATWAALA PROJECTS

MEHFILM; Poetry Film Festival: In collaboration with SAI (https://www.saichicago.org/), October 4th  2025: Matwaala's first poetry film festival.
Matwaala & SWWIM Residency Program, 2025: This residency, in partnership with SWWIM, celebrates South Asian voices and provides a vital creative space for poetry at The Betsy–South Beach, Miami. The 2025 resident poet is Nina Sudhakar. Dates: September 10–13, 2025

Curated by Matwaala and ThinkIndia Foundation for the Smithsonian project Beyond Bollywood: Matwaala curated the poetry wall project in collaboration with Think India Foundation, a wall of 24 framed poems by South Asian diaspora poets at the Irving Museum and Archives in Dallas as part of Smithsonian’s project ‘ Beyond Bollywood’.  On the 29th February, Pramila and Usha, directors of Matwaala read their work at the museum along with two youth poets Sara Garg and Divya Joshi.   

 
​Collaboration with Academy of American Poets' poem-a-day program 2025: 
The Academy featured five South Asian women poets in their poem-a-day program to mark the tenth anniversary.


Diaspora Poetry collection, Delhi University:
Matwaala is thrilled to initiate the building of a diaspora poetry collection of books (hard & soft copy) at Delhi University's English department to facilitate dialogue between both Indian and diaspora academic and creative communities. Interested poets are welcome to email us at [email protected] to learn more and send your work to DU.
