Sara Garg
STEM and poetry may not appear to match, but 18-year-old Sara Garg will combine them in her life as a freshman at Emory University and future physician. Sara began her poetic journey as a 4th grader and hasn’t looked back since. Her works have been read at Matwaala's poetry festival and published in Austin International Poetry Festival and Austin Bat Cave Anthologies. She has won multiple awards for her poems including the Youth Poet of the Year Award 2017 at the Houston International Poetry Festival, Sophomore District Winner of the Georgia Young Writers Competition 2021, and PTA Awards of Excellence. She was the only youth poet featured on Matwaala's Poetry Wall at Irving Museum in Dallas as part of an exhibition of the Smithsonian’s Beyond Bollywood showcase and at India Currents’ 2020 Poetry Reading on Uncertainty and Change. In addition, she is a Gold Award Girl Scout and Greater Atlanta Young Woman of Distinction. Her chapbook, Elements, will be published by Kallisto Gaia Press in July 2023. Diya Kanduri is rising freshman at Rutgers New Brunswick. She is the founder of Soul Poetry, hosting monthly poetry readings catered towards youth writers from across the world. Soul Poetry has had two sessions featuring over twenty poets from six different countries. She is a blogger and frequently posts her work on her site, Bold Words. Her work has appeared on India Currents and she is a writer for The Scientific Teen. Additionally, she is the cofounder of Sync Poetry. Diya is also passionate about STEM fields and plans to pursue a career in the field of engineering. Her chapbook of ekphrasis poetry titled "Berries on the Bush" will be coming out in 2023.
