In the midst of the pandemic, things seem to be veiled by disbelief, blue light turns everything into a figment of our imaginations. Poetry is here to remind us that things are real, that we are real, and that most importantly, our stories are real.

Schedule
July 25th at NOON EDT: Open Mic We're having an open mic, much like a coffeehouse. This 30 minute event offers everyone to share something they've been working on or are passionate about. Poetry is suggested and those who attend DO NOT have to be reading a piece.
July 26th at 8:15 AM EDT: Speed Poetry ***** This celebrates our 1 year anniversary as a nonprofit ***** This workshop is meant to force you to write, quickly, without much time to think. You will be randomly assigned topics to write about and are even allowed to provide your own. If you're like me, you aren't fully awake at 8:15 in the morning, and this workshop lets you see what your natural voice is in the AM. There will be multiple forms of poetry that we use including limerick, haiku, and couplet.
July 27th at NOON EDT: Repetitive Styles Workshop This workshop will teach less commonly known styles such as the villanelle and the sestina.
July 28th at NOON EDT: Style development We've developed personal voices and learn about other styles, this workshop is about learning from the greats. We will analyze poems by different minority authors and try some style mimicking.
July 29th at NOON EDT: Mystery! A workshop and open mic. I'll give you a hint, this will be a day of fun and games with poetry!
